Covid-19 Update 7-15-2020
As we begin to cautiously re-open limited activities without a vaccine or cure for Covid-19, we must continue to ensure the health and safety of all stakeholders involved with Local Union 597 Training. This will require that we modify our structure to include temperature checks, social distancing, face coverings, symptom and contact screenings as well as other safety measures and procedures.
We are currently formulating plans to re-engage training events while evaluating the potential risk of covid-19 transmission within each activity. LU597 training has experienced several confirmed cases of covid-19 within our training operations during the past several months and we continue to closely monitor this situation. Face to face classroom training will be the most difficult challenge facing our future operations, and regular Apprenticeship Training Classes will remain cancelled until further notice.
Restricted day welding is currently available at Aurora and Crown Point. As we monitor the weld shops and the level of community spread, we can determine when night and Saturday welding can safely be added to the schedule. UA weld certification tests will be scheduled by appointment at Aurora and Crown Point until further notice.
Several certification and re-certification classes that were suspended mid-stream in March are scheduled to be re-established in August. Additional training content will be added when deemed safe and compliant with Local and State regulations.
APPLICATIONS AND APPLICANT TESTING REMAIN CANCELLED.
Applicants will be notified via e-mail regarding an upcoming test date.
Please monitor your e-mail and this website for more information.
